This Northern Oriole is one of my favorite paint projects. It actually paints up in a matter of minutes, uses only six colors and a #8 flat and #2 round brush. The design is by Jackie Shaw and all painters beginner to advanced will enjoy the painting of this beautiful bird. If orioles live in your vicinity feed them oranges and they also like jellies. Look for feeders at your local pet supply location.

It's spring and a great time for painting birds. I took this design for oils by Sherry Nelson and converted it to acrylics. This is my first attempt at doing this and I am sure a second try will bring improvements. I did not use a blending gel when painting but will during class to make it a little easier.

We are back at class and working on our Fruit Medley. This is a slight modification on a design by Brenda Jansen. It uses only a few colors and many of those are mixed. It can be a very bright piece or can be toned down with antiquing or brown shading. I have painted variations of this design on many different surfaces.
