Mountain Iris

The Iris, a flower that was named for a goddess and whose name means rainbow. This project is the Rocky Mountain Iris, the design is by Bev Norman. You will need three greens for the foliage, a light blue to base the petals, a purple for shading and a dark blue to mix with the purple for deeper shading and the vein work, ochre and a golden yellow for the beard. Don't forget white, we need that to mix with the light blue for the highlight on the edges of the petals. We did back to back floating for the highlight on the leaves. Make sure that your shading and highlighting keep the petals separate. This piece is also beautiful done on a dark background.

  1. I like mine better after getting the touch ups done. I worked on my mallow too and I like it better.
