Playing it Cool

Hot and humid days make for great play times on
the computer.
Scribbler Too is a lot of fun just using
your mouse to make a drawing.

I found the site for this pen and ink fun from the Screen
Toys site. It's more like oriental brush and interesting, too.

What to do when the heat index is 106-112 ?
Paint up something cool, like this Santa  Gourd.
More photos after everyone has him finished.

New Directions

We are going to be veering off course for a while,
learning to paint in new ways and with different
painting mediums. We started with a small project
which was an intro into using extender. The design
is by Bob Pennycook  and look at these nice pieces.

Bed Warmers From Germany

A few days ago I posted photos of an upcoming project
using metal bed warmers that Vickie gave to the class.
Here are a few of the finished ones.
Vickie choose a black base and a decorative trim for
the sides of the warmer.

This beautiful one in blue is by Carmen.

Debbie uses colors that are already in her home decor.

Stellas has added flourishes of color  to the design.

Real Feel 112

It was hot here in central Kentucky today. The 'real feel' as the weather people like to call it was 112 degrees, it was in the upper 90's and the humidity gives us the real feel. We weren't all that cool inside but we were thinking about a cool season while painting these Christmas Chickens. These gals are ready for a really bright holiday this year. This fun design is by Cyndi Combs.

More Tangled

I need not more time but more lives to be able to
do and accomplish so many of the things that
interest me. Learning tangle patterns (and creating
your own) is just one.

Paint Project From Germany

Vickie, friend and student spent several years in Germany
and returned home with a collection of German bedwarmers
and graciously gave some of them over for a class project.

The bedwarmer after cleaning with a soapy bath and
 vinegar/water rinse.

First, a primer for metal and then a base coat of

The design laid out and painted. Touch ups and a coat
of varnish will complete the piece. This one will only
be used for decorative purposes.

Steps of the Tangle

Zentangle is a creative way of relaxing and producing
an interesting piece of artistic design. Some patterns are
available in books and online. I am using both to learn
the steps of the tangle. It is much fun and pleasing to the
mind and eye.

The Cup

A cup to match the pot.
I am painting 'Christmas Chickens' and reading more
on altering photos with apps for the iPhone. Ice Cream
is a favorite food for July and the other eleven months
of the year.
