Hollyhock Family

Hollyhocks are members of the Malllow family and native to Asia, Europe and Egypt. Wild varieties are pink or yellow. They are sun lovers and tolerate drought. Pictured here are some beautiful specimens painted in class this week.

Hollyhocks

One of the most beautiful flowers in the garden is the Hollyhock.
Every one of these paintings is as beautiful as the real thing.
All are on 8x16 canvas panels. Working larger was a first for
some and I think we all enjoyed it immensely.

The Stone Bunny

One of my favorites to paint. A loose style of painting and a subject I love, bunnies.  The Bunny is made of stone, the kind you would set on your patio amid the pots of flowers and plants. He has weathered from spending time in the elements and this adds to his charm.

Hollyhocks

I love Hollyhocks, it seems all my Grandmothers
and Aunts had them in their yards when I was
growing up.  We will be painting them in class soon.

Local Artist

Rae Ann Hoffman had these wonderful pieces on display recently at an art exhibit held at the historic mansion, Wickland. Rae Ann's range of talent is evident in these selections.
