a few dried gourds...'mold and dirt' are part of the by product
during the process of a gourd curing...so don't be put off by this...
soak the gourds for 15-20 minutes in some warm soapy water..
you can do this in a tub or sink...I always wet and cover the gourds
with a couple of old tea towels...this helps to keep them uniformly
wet...lay down some newspaper...and start by scraping with a dull
knife and finish off with a metal dish scraper...the kind grandma or
great grandmother used to clean those pots and pans...rinse off all
the residue and...
let the gourds air dry completely
Start with a couple coats of black acrylic paint...
Use acrylic paints for the hands and face ...light greens
or tan colored flesh tones are best... you can use
white acrylic paints or gel pens to design their clothes
